Overall, I think the Eisenhorn novels are a good read, even for those who are not into Warhammer 40K. Horus Rising was good, The Eisenhorn books do for the 40,000 universe what no one else has to date, and that's expand in ways I never thought possibleand I'm pretty solid on my geek 40k knowledge. Ravenor is an omnibus collection of the three books in the “Ravenor” sequence: Ravenor, Ravenor Returned and Ravenor Rogue, set in the Warhammer 40k universe. I don't remember now why I picked up Eisenhorn, Dan Abnett's trilogy about an Inquisitor in the Warhammer 40K universe. In the story, Eisenhorn makes "the sign of the eagle" in the same manner as a Catholic makes the sign of the cross. But I think this is more fun to recognize characters before Bequin does. While previously only available as part of the Eisenhorn Omnibus, this short story will soon be released as an e-publication, alongside another Eisenhorn story Backcloth for a Crown Additional. The Eisenhorn Omnibus is brilliant, one of my all time 40k Favourites, it's a shame that I didn't enjoy Ravenor as much as this. The Hat Rack: Warhammer 40,000 I should be conquering the final novel in Sandy Mitchell ;s first Ciaphas Cain omnibus later tonight, and I have only one book left in Graham McNeil ;s Ultramarines omnibus . The Ravenor trilogy, collected in this Omnibus, takes place in the bleak setting of Warhammer 40,000, where there is only war. In the grim far future, the Inquisition moves amongst mankind like an avenging shadow, striking down daemons, aliens and heretics with uncompromising ruthlessness. Of the two, Eisenhorn is far better, it's not fair to say really, since it's really an omnibus packed with the original trilogy of novels, as well as some great, interconnecting short stories in between them, but I liked the overall style of this one more. Dan Abnett - Ravenor: The Omnibus. Find a copy of the Eisenhorn Omnibus. The Ultramarines Omnibus ( Warhammer 40000 Omnibus ) List Price: $15.00 ISBN13: But if you are going to read it you need to read the Eisenhorn omnibus and the Ravenor omnibus . The Inquisitor Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett has proven to be one of the most popular series of books within the 40K line of the Black Library publication, and February 25th sees, for the first time, the individual release of the short story Missing in Action. I think the extreme time-jumps played a part in that. I didn't like the later two books as much as I did the first one. I finished reading the entire Eisenhorn omnibus, which consists of Malleus and Hereticus as well as Xenos , which I already discussed.
